I spent a month in Costa Rica and what surprised me the most was just how similar the spices and flavors were to the cuisine of my native country of Dominican Republic, needless to say made me feel more at home.  

Because we wanted to really eat well, we refrained from eating at our resort, we visited mostly local restaurants, recommended by the locals, getting away from the tourist flavors.   What I loved the most was their fresh seafood dishes, their simple yet delicious coconut ice cream pops, their crunchy plantain chips that cracked my tooth {that’s a story you can read about on my personal site, very painful} and their fruits which we would buy or pick from the trees and I would prepare delicious fruit platters every morning, right from our hotel room.  I was pescatarian back then.

Our trip was amazing! Costa Rica is a favorite country of mine, very relaxing.
