24 Hours in Albany, New York

To kick off our 10 year global expedition, we began our journey in Albany, New York to visit Eastern Canada.  On our way to Ottawa Canada, We drove from Trenton, New Jersey, stopped overnight in Albany, New York.   Mateu Javier and I spent a full day in New York’s capital.  We visited some fun and beautiful places, took a ton of awesome photos and learned so much about the state of New York.   We must go back and spend more time exploring Albany.  For architectural and history aficionados like myself, Albany has an abundance to offer and in my humble opinion an underrated tourist attraction.

We Usually Drive During Night Hours To Start a Fresh Full Day - This is Albany At Night

How We Started Our Day

We began our day by waking up early in the pouring rain.   Mateu and I sat inside our camper enjoying the beautiful rain pouring on our ceiling.   I had already slept many hours and was ready to hit the road again.

I prepared us some simple breakfast in hopes the rain would stop and by the time we finished eating, the rain had stopped and we were very excited to explore around town.

Cloudy Day

Yep, that is me carrying the most uncomfortable umbrella all day and not a drop of water in sight, yes cloudy and just incase.

The egg in the room is larger than life as you can see, a stunning sculpture work of art.   I took these photos so you can appreciate the details of other works.   I love details and yes I know my images are late, but our work is dedicated to world education, hence such large images.    Imagine the designing and architecture that went into make these curves and rounded shapes.  That is intricate engineering in my opinion.

This is so far the tallest building in Albany. Located in the Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza a/k/a Empire State Plaza.

  9. The Francois Stahly "Labyrinth"

This is not really a park, it's considered a climable wooden structure called a Labyrinth. It is absolutely a stunning piece of art by French German artist of hand-carved wood planks made from Iroko Wood. Fracois was commissioned by Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller. The sculpture is absolutely stunning both for adults, children and dogs. The space is is located on the Southend of the Plaza, a place of total relaxation, great breeze and most beautiful views of the cathedral, almost at eye level and gorgeous views of parts of the city. It's truly spectacular, Mateu and I spent hour here, needless to say a magical and adventurous space for kids. Next time we will for sure have a picnic there. Great place to meet with families.
