I decided to go on a test run with my son, prior to exploring outside USA. My son Mateu is three and half going on 4 in November 2023. I wanted to make sure we can sleep in our vehicle comfortably, he is in growth mode, while I am no longer growing as an adult.
The vehicle we took was just for a test run and no build was done. I only put all the seats down, added some blankets and made our cushions from all of our clothes.
We drove from Trenton, New Jersey, passed through Delaware, spent over a week in Maryland and almost two weeks in Virginia. We drove as far south of Virginia to enter North Carolina.
While having an early morning breakfast at Cracker-Barrel, I received a very sad message from my parents, my favorite grandmother had passed away at 101 years of age. My heart dropped and knew what I had to do next. I spoke to my son, shared the very sad news with Mateu and let him know that we must turn back and head back north to be with our family. We decided to go back home to New Jersey and end our test run in south Virginia at the border. Needless to say our test run was more than successful and so much more fun than I expected. Mateu was wonderful to travel with, he had a wonderful time and the road travels were absolutely fun, we explored and learned so much. We are now ready to begin our global expedition in the following months, we begin in 2024.
